Calleri Vineyard - Cienega Valley

The Cienega Valley is one of California’s oldest wine growing regions with original plantings dating back to the 1850s. It’s located about 6 miles southeast of Hollister, CA and about 35 miles northeast of the cool Monterey Peninsula. The soils are laced with granite and limestone, similar to those in southern France. A rare varietal called Negrette, also known as Pinot St. George, is the principal grape of Côtes du Frontonnais in France. In California, Negrette plantings are minuscule. Ron Siletto is an icon in the Central Coast wine industry and one of the few with a passion for rare, underappreciated varietals. His Calleri Vineyard is the source of our Negrette, Barbera and Bastardo.
